Effective Immediately, USCIS Rolls Out New Payment Framework

Effective immediately, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has rolled out a new payment framework for filing fees. Applicants and petitioners filing by mail must now complete and submit Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transactions, if paying by a U.S.-issued Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover.  In addition, for those electing to pay directly from a U.S. bank account, USCIS introduced Form G-1650, Authorization for ACH Transactions, which authorizes a direct debit from a U.S. bank account.

Starting October 28, 2025, USCIS will no longer accept paper checks or money orders for filing fees—unless a rare exemption is granted via Form G-1651.  After that date, the only acceptable payment methods for mailed applications will be: (1) ACH debit via Form G-1650, or (2) credit card payment via Form G-1450.   Applicants should ensure their bank or card accounts have sufficient funds, and that the payment information is accurately paired with each specific application or petition, as payment errors will certainly result in rejection.
